Born in Lakeland, Florida, Kim Lovering is the creator of KLUV and the United Funk Foundation. By age 11, Lovering knew she wanted to be a singer and professional performer. She started her international career as the "Rock Singer" in Tokyo Disneyland. After appearing on Star Search and Showtime at the Apollo, Lovering went on to tour with Wilson Pickett as a background vocalist and was also featured in his shows. She has opened for BB King, Al Green, Spencer Davis, Toby Keith, and many others.
