The Broward County Waterway Cleanup, organized by the Marine Industries
Association of South Florida, is the county’s largest and
longest-running environmental event. The first Waterway Cleanup was held
in the late 1970s to help ensure that both the community as a whole and
the marine industry could enjoy our local waterways.
Each year the Broward County Waterway Cleanup attracts thousands of volunteers from many neighborhoods and communities throughout the county. People of all ages come out in their boats and along the shores to clean all kinds of debris from the waterways.
This year, in order to keep volunteers as safe as possible we have instituted some new changes to this long-standing event.
Waterway Cleanup will run all month long in March 2021, kicking-off on March 6th! You can clean up on any weekend (or every weekend!) in March which will help prevent crowding on any one day so you can easily maintain social distancing between cleanup groups. Visit http://waterwaycleanup.org for more information and to register to participate.
